Positamy: The Amalfi Coast Airbnb That Feels Like a Secret

There are places you stay, and then there are places you feel. Positamy, a tucked-away Airbnb above the cliffside cascade of Positano, is the kind of space that lingers long after your suitcase is unpacked. I found it during a solo summer escape in 2023 — a trip shaped by slow mornings, sea air, and the kind of small luxuries that don’t need to announce themselves.

The Stay

Perched just far enough above the Positano bustle to feel serene — but close enough to walk to the heart of town — Positamy balances charm with calm. The interiors are unfussy and sun-washed: white walls, hand-tiled floors, and windows that open to panoramic sea views and the scent of citrus trees below. It’s the kind of space that exudes quiet confidence, letting the light and landscape do the talking.

When I arrived, a chilled bottle of limoncello was waiting in the mini fridge — a thoughtful welcome that set the tone for the entire stay. My family and I poured shots in the multi-color striped shot glasses, laughed and enjoyed the views. After getting some exploring done and basking in the beauty of Positano, we watched the sky melt into sunset from the private terrace, perched above rooftops and bougainvillea and it felt like we were in a scene from a postcard.

There were other small, perfect touches too: complimentary red wine served with a smile by the family who runs the Airbnb, and the soft kind of hospitality that makes you feel more like a guest in someone’s home than a name on a reservation.

The Experience

From Positamy, the best of Positano unfolds on foot. I spent slow mornings with my family at nearby cafés like La Zagara and Collina Positano Bakery, where you can sip espresso under lemon trees or grab a flaky sfogliatella — a shell-shaped pastry layered with impossibly crisp dough and filled with sweetened ricotta — before descending the winding lanes to the beach

Evenings were spent wandering toward Chez Black Positano for incredible pizza and pasta made sempre con amore (always with love) and people-watching on the beachfront promenade. We also indugled ourselves with handmade pasta and time-stopping, chilled wine at Da Vincenzo, a must-visit tucked just above town. One afternoon, we caught the ferry to Capri for a dreamy day trip and a boat tour; another, we explored Amalfi, returning each time to that same quiet terrace with limoncello gelato scooped into a giant lemon — a small, unforgettable pleasure.

And when I didn’t feel like leaving a restaurant, or sun-kissed nap on the beach? I didn’t. Because sometimes, stillness is the destination.

Why It Belongs on Your Radar

If your travel style leans toward slow, intentional living with a strong sense of place, Positamy quietly delivers. It’s ideal for solo travelers, couples, families, or anyone craving a stay that blends local charm, personal connection, and soul-soothing views.

For me, it wasn’t just a home base — it was part of the story. A place to pause, recharge, and remember how deeply you can feel somewhere when you allow yourself to simply be.
